Why Choose an Untethered Charger?

Cable Length / Routing Issues - Fixed cable must reach the vehicle’s charging port. If the cable is too short, it can force awkward parking, strain the cable or connectors or encourage use of dangerous extension cables. Poor cable routing may lead to tripping hazards, damage from scraping or kinks.

Portability & Shared Use - If you move vehicles or share a charger between vehicles at different positions, the fixed cable might not reach or might require moving the car/changing orientation, which is less flexible than a detachable with the option for longer lengths.

Cable Wear & Maintenance - With a fixed cable it is exposed to environmental wear (sunlight/UV, rain, humidity, temperature extremes), mechanical stress (pulling, bending) and maybe vandalism. Replacement is more involved than a detachable cable. If the cable fails, you have to replace the whole tether (or at least repair on-site) vs simply swapping out a plug or cable in a detachable system. Limited choice of cable type/specs since the manufacturer supplies what they supply.

Warranty / Support Challenges - If the cable is integral, warranty issues might require more complex servicing. Also, obtaining spare parts (connectors, cable loom, seals) could be slower/costly.
